New year, new you, new resolutions—like seeing more shows or broadening your musical horizons or just getting to Vitus once more time before, well, you know things go for independent venues in North Brooklyn these days. Are we on the right track? If so, FREEWilliamsburg and This One Goes to Eleven are psyched to announce our first (and maybe last, who knows) showcase of 2019, featuring Moon Tooth, Vaureen, Somnuri, and Fliege at Saint Vitus.
A watercolor smear of modern metal, the evening is spearheaded by Moon Tooth—a virtuosic Long Island prog-sludge outfit with an ear for massive Cave In-esque hooks. The brainchild of Riot V guitarist Nick Lee, Moon Tooth have a big 2019 on the way (just you wait and see) but it all begins here, with brand new tunes and a shiny new axe, if the rumors are to be believed…
If that’s not incentive enough, support comes courtesy of Sabbath-y shoegaze acolytes Vaureen, Golden Age of Sludge revivalists Somnuri, and Fliege, (which, in the interest of full disclosure, is my The Fly-obsessed black n’ roll project). Each band kills it in their own unique way, except Fliege. We suck.
If this sounds like your cup of culturally immersive tea shred, come hang out Tuesday 1/22 at The House that Satan Built. Doors are at 7pm, tickets are $12 ($15 at door), and your friendly FREEWilliamsburg editorial staff will be in the pit. As far as icebreakers go, you can’t ask for much better than that.
