Insa Brooklyn is a Korean restaurant in Brooklyn offering a range of mouth-watering Korean dishes. They also provide karaoke services to top up your pleasure. Insa Brooklyn has not been in existence for so long but has served the people of Brooklyn well in its short time of starting operation.
Although being a Korean restaurant, Insa Brooklyn is open to all (even non-Koreans) serving them hot delicacies and treating them to a beautiful karaoke session. Few people in Brooklyn can boast of having tasted the classy Korean barbecue.
How Did It Begin?
In December 2015, the owner of Insa Brooklyn Chef Sohui Kim and her husband Ben Schneider, who is also their designer began serving Korean menu and drinks at Insa.
Insa is a re-modification of Red Hook’s Good Fork established in 2006 which serves a few Korean dishes. Insa however, serves Korean dishes. It is referred to as the modern Gowanus.
Chef Kim previously owned and worked in Red Hook serving delicious dishes that include Steak and Eggs in the Korean way, a free-range grilled chicken, a solid burger and homemade dumpling.
How Does it Look?
The Bar at Insa is one in town, with its red, luxurious look, it also features Korean Tiki cocktails while you get to enjoy soju shots for as low as $1. The Insa soju is made from local roots and possesses a unique taste from other common soju you might have had before now. It has a clean, dry, light flavour that keeps you refreshed always.
Insa has the touch of the traditional Korean design evident in the dining area giving enough room for space, curved wood, clean lines, and with a simple look.
What Do They Offer?
Insa offers a wide range of traditional Korean dishes starting with a mixture of Banchan usually dished out on the serving table in a circle together with a sumptuous bowl of egg custard. You can also add sardines and squid if they are your favourites.
You also get to choose from the various six options of barbecue available which includes; mushroom platter, pork belly, short ribs, brisket, shrimp and the squid. On the other hand, the Insa Fried Chicken is delicious, crispy and crunchy. It will come in handy when you least expected.
You miss out a lot if you do not try Tteokbokki, a dish of hot fish cake, rice cakes and egg that has been boiled tenderly. The combination of all this gives you a delicious taste of good quality food.
Asides the food, menu and dishes, the karaoke section is a standout at Insa Brooklyn. The karaoke rooms possess a distinct theme which includes psychedelic, deep sea, jungle and space. It is spacious enough to accommodate you and your friends as it can hold more than 22 people in its most oversized rooms and about eight people in the smaller rooms.
The karaoke was created to bring people together to have fun, celebrating with your loved ones and hanging out with them. This is why they have booster seats and high chairs to cater to family needs.
Insa is a perfect restaurant where you can hang out with a large group (family or friends or even colleagues); however, be sure to make reservations before you go. These reservations will put in place your desired menu and type of music, ensuring that you and your friends enjoy the best evening hang out.
Kids are not left out of the fun at Insa; you can take your kids along too. Insa has a place for everyone irrespective of their age.
How Do They Charge?
On the price side, Insa offers excellent quality karaoke services and delicious dishes at a cheap cost, which justifies the value for money. For instance, a dinner for two featuring one serving of barbecued short ribs, two apps, two cocktails and tax (and maybe tip) costs only $120. Barbecue order is $35; beef brisket goes for $28 and a pair of seafood corndogs for $15.
Note that a 20 per cent administrative fee is already added to the check, so you do not need to add to it again.
Insa is located at 328 Douglass Street flanked by the 3rd and 4th Avenues. Insa is 4.600 square feet housing a full bar, five karaoke rooms and a 100-seat restaurant.
