How People Make Things Exhibit. Ella Sharp Museum. Every object in our world has a story of how it is made. How People Make Things tells this story by linking familiar childhood objects to a process of manufacturing that combines people, ideas and technology. Join us on the “factory floor” and create objects with real tools while exploring four manufacturing processes – molding, cutting, deforming, and assembly. Displays demonstrate the steps familiar objects — Vans sneakers, Matchbox Cars, and baseballs — undertake during their transformation from raw materials to finished products, as well as the various manufacturing processes utilized along the way. Plus, nostalgia buffs can relive Fred Rogers’ visits to manufacturing factories in vintage Picture Picture videos from the original Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Series. Cost: adults/$5, children/$3. ESM members and children under 5/free. Galleries are open Wednesday – Sunday during regular business hours. Planetarium shows and historical Farm House tours are also available on select weekends. Admission can be purchased on-site or at www.ellasharpmuseum.org.
