Brooklyn Listings Six Months Later: Three Sold

November 16, 2022

This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Flatbush, Bay Ridge, Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Park Slope. How did they fare?

In Flatbush in a 1940 Colonial Revival brick building, this one-bedroom has fanciful arches and wood floors, along with space for dining, an office and a gracious entry. It has the expected details of the era, such as a breakfast nook and built-in shelving in a recessed niche, along with a renovated kitchen and bathroom. This former Co-op of the Day sold in August for the asking price of $375,000.

In Bay Ridge, an early 20th century single-family row house offers charm on the exterior along with some period details on the interior. There is plenty of woodwork, including wainscoting and a plate shelf in the dining room and a pier mirror in the parlor. The kitchen is dated but appears in good repair. This former Open House Pick was taken off the market in October.

In the Prospect Lefferts Gardens Historic District, a single-family row house has the gleaming woodwork and design details expected of an early 20th century row house by prolific architect Benjamin Driesler. The glowing woodwork runs throughout the first floor, which contains a front parlor with pocket doors, window moldings, a pier mirror and wood floors with inlaid borders. This former House of the Day sold in September for $2.115 million, which was $130,000 over the asking price.

In the same family for decades, this early 20th century Park Slope limestone has an abundance of well-maintained original details, windows on three sides and a prime location a short stroll from Prospect Park. Designed by prolific architect Axel Hedman, 607 5th Street brims with original mantels, wainscoting, fretwork, marble sinks and plasterwork. This former House of the Day sold in August for $4.1 million, which was $650,000 over the asking price.
