NYPD suspends two cops for attacks on protesters in Brooklyn
Two officers found to have brutally attacked protesters without just cause in Brooklyn last weekend have been suspended without pay, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea announced Friday night. The first incident involves one officer who shoved Dounya Zayer to the ground during the May 29 protest near the Barclays Center. Protesters came together in Downtown Brooklyn on Friday to remember Breonna Taylor, the young black woman fatally shot by Louisville police officers in early March, on what would have been her 27th birthday. Taylor, an EMT, was shot eight times by Louisville cops who wrongly believed there were illegal drugs in her apartment.
